The coffee shop was too loud, the chatter a relentless assault on her senses. Sarah tapped her foot incessantly, the rhythmic thud a counterpoint to the nervous flutter in her stomach. She held the book, a well-loved copy of "Pride and Prejudice," but she wasn't reading.

A folded envelope, tucked deep within the pages, had been her undoing. Inside, a brittle photograph and a note written in elegant cursive. The note hinted at a betrayal, a shattering deception. The photo, a woman smiling, and the implication of the woman's actions, made her feel cold.

She wanted to call her therapist, to scream, but instead, she took a shaky sip of her latte, scalding her tongue. She wished that she'd never purchased the book in the first place. She felt that she was trapped, that this book held the key to a truth she wasn't ready to face.
